PM’s Ramadan Package: 4 Million Families to Receive Rs 5,000 Aid
Under the Ramzan Rashan Package, which has already been announced, the Prime Minister claims that 4 million rural and urban households will receive aid payments in due course.
As Express-News stated, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, at the launch of the Ramadan package list in the federal capital, indicated that this time, 4 million families (around 20 million people) would receive Rs 5,000 per household through a digital wallet.
He thanked Allah and stated, “This year, compared to the past few years, inflation during Ramadan is significantly lower. An impressive Rs 20 billion has been earmarked for the Imtiaz Ramzan package, which is expected to cover around 4 million Pakistani households.
The Prime Minister pointed out that last year, this amount was pegged at Rs 7 million; however, this year, it has been raised phenomenally by 200 percent to Rs 20 billion.
In February, the Punjab government initiated the “Nigehban Ramazan” project to assist economically challenged families by granting Rs 10,000 each to 3 million qualifying households. The distribution began on February 25, facilitated through Pakistan Post.
The Bank of Punjab (BoP) has streamlined postal services in Lahore by partnering with Pakistan Post. Pakistan Post will receive 500,000 pay orders daily to distribute to eligible families across the province via insured mail. Pakistan Post’s Director-General, Sami Ullah Khan, is coordinating the entire process, from booking to mail delivery.
During the implementation of this project, the Punjab government ensured that postal service members were not offered leave or transfer during delivering the service.
Earlier this year, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government released Ramadan and Eid relief packages for deserving families. Barrister Saif, Special Assistant to the Information Minister of K-P, announced that this package will be extended to cover over a million families, like last year. Through this program, each family is expected to receive Rs 10,000.
The Social Minister of K-P said the funds will be processed straightforwardly through banks and EasyPaisa well before the 15th of Ramadan. Recipients were pledged not to incur costs so the receiver would be better off.
In Pakistan, sighting the moon for Ramadan in 1446 Hijri is impossible. Hence, the first fast will be observed on Sunday, March 2.
According to Express News, the committee has confirmed that no moon was present within the country’s boundaries. This follows the conference call that the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee moderated in Peshawar on Friday. Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad led the committee, which followed its meeting with a press release.
Representatives of the Meteorological Department and SUPARCO and different zonal committees responsible for moon sightings met throughout the country.
